120 Colleges Affiliated to Shivaji University Under Radar for Ignoring NAAC Norms
A total number of 120 colleges affiliated to Shivaji University are under the scanner of National Assessment and Accreditation Council or NAAC for ignoring the norms and guidelines of NAAC.
These colleges are under the radar of NAAC for de-recognition or re-accreditation. One of the officials mentioned that the Directorate of Higher Education had sent a letter to the varsity two years ago and instructed the colleges to follow NAAC assessment directives strictly. The department also warned the colleges that they would face de-recognition if they do not follow NAAC norms.
According to the observation of NAAC, these colleges affiliated to Shivaji University are continuously flouting the norms of NAAC. NAAC issued strict warnings to these colleges and of no use.
Dr. More, Director of Board of Colleges and University Development, Kolhapur explained that the performance of colleges affiliated to the varsity is quite poor in NAAC assessments. There are around 150 colleges which are in single digit and yet to carry out re-accreditation process. He further added that notices had been sent to all these colleges to comply with NAAC assessment norms or else they will have to face de-recognition.
Therefore, it is time for these colleges to take essential steps for fulfilling NAAC assessment norms.
Currently, there are 135 aided colleges in Kolhapur out of which 134 fulfilled NAAC norms. On the other hand, there are 28-unaided colleges which are also following NAAC norms.
