About 10,000 Seats Added to FYJC Admissions in Mumbai Metropolitan Region

  • Close to 10,000 seats have been added to the Commerce, Science and Arts streams in Mumbai region.
  • 14 new junior colleges have been established in the region to contribute to the same.
About 10,000 Seats Added to FYJC Admissions in Mumbai Metropolitan Region

The intake capacity at First Year Junior College (FYJC) has been increased beginning this academic session. Candidates who wish to apply for FYJC admissions 2018 can do so by logging into the official website. Now that there are more number of seats available for students, students have more options to choose from for FYJC admissions.

Last year, a total of 2,92,090 seats were on offer while the total has gone up to 3,01,760 this year. In addition to this, 14 new junior colleges have also come up in Mumbai to accommodate all students. The highest number of seats available are maximum in the Commerce stream as compared to science and arts streams.

Increase in FYJC Seats 2018:

The overall increase in intake capacity of commerce, science and arts streams is as follows:

  • Commerce - 4,460 seats
  • Science - 3,760 seats
  • Arts -1,140 seats

FYJC are also planning to conduct online admission for Bifocal-Vocational courses along with quota admissions in the zero round which is referred to as the tentative time frame for quota admissions.

Out of the total intake capacity, around 1,63,496 seats belong to general category and 1,37,816 seats are reserved for minority, in-house and management quota from this academic year.

According to the information available, the total number of colleges in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) has gone up to 800. Therefore, the board is confident of providing each student who will pass the class 10 exams with a seat in junior colleges.
