- Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh has launched a platform to initiate online admissions for Chandigard colleges.
- The platform has been started so that students and parents do not have to travel from far places for the admission.
Admission to various colleges in Chandigarh for the 2018-19 academic session will not involve any counselling session as the entire process is available online. The new academic session will start from July 2018.
The online admission portal has been created by Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh so that students and parents do not have to travel for the admission. Admission to eleven colleges in Chandigarh will be done through an online portal. Students will be only required to come physically to college to pay the fees apart from that everything else will be conducted online.

Till last year, application of all the streams whether its science, arts or commerce had to be present for the counselling session. During counselling, candidates had to deposit their documents and certificates. Whereas in 2018, the admission process will start from 9 July and prospectuses will be made available to the students from the first week of June and students can submit their forms online by the third week of June. However, the entire admission process has been made online from this academic year.

Rakesh Kumar Popli, Director Higher Education stated that the schedule for the online procedure of college admission will be released in a day or two so that the candidates do not have to physically come for the counselling. These colleges offer a wide range of programs in science, arts and commerce field.
