National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur has opened its gates for admissions to its full time, part time and off-campus Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program offered in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Architecture (Arch.), Electrical Engineering (EE), Civil Engineering (CE), ), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electronics & Communication Engineering (E&CE), Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences [H&SS (Eco.)], [H&SS (English)], Centre for Energy and Environmental Engineering (CEEE) and Centre for Material Science & Engineering [(CMSE), CMSE (Geology)] for the session 2016. Application forms are provided online.
Eligibility Criteria:
For Ph.D in Engineering/Architecture (inclusive of Centres): Candidates must have completed their Master Degree in Engineering /Technology/Architecture in appropriate discipline with a minimum CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 60% marks in case of Open/OBC candidates in qualifying degree. SC/ST candidates must have a minimum CGPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 55% marks in qualifying degree.
For Ph.D in Applied Sciences: Candidates should have completed master degree in relevant science subject with a minimum CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 60% marks in case of Open/OBC candidates in qualifying degree. SC/ST candidates must have minimum CGPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 55% marks in qualifying degree.
For Ph.D in Humanities & Social Sciences: candidates should have pursued a master degree in appropriate discipline with minimum CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 60% marks in case of Open/OBC candidates in qualifying degree. For SC/ST candidates a minimum CGPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale (or equivalent) or 55% marks in qualifying degree is required.
Selection Process:
Selections will be done in the following two stages:
- All eligible candidates are required to pass a written examination in the relevant discipline. The exam will be conducted by NIT, Hamirpur.
- On passing the examination the candidates will be subjected to interview and presentation.
Important Dates:
- Last date for submission of application form: Tuesday, July 05, 2016.
- Displaying the list of shortlisted candidate: Tuesday, July 12, 2016.
- Date of screening test: Wednesday, July 20, 2016.
- Date of interview: Monday, July 25, 2016 and Tuesday, July 26, 2016.
