The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has been trying hard to regain its reputation after the Bihar topper scam that was uncovered in May 2016. Anand Kishore, Chairman of BSEB has canceled the affiliation of 68 inter-colleges and 19 schools in different parts of the state.
BSEB has taken various steps to eradicate corruption from the education system of the state and ensure that underserving students don’t get through the exams by paying bribe. The board also wants to ensure that events like the topper scam are not repeated in the future.
After the unveiling of the scam, the BSEB has been thoroughly investigating the practices of all 212 schools and inter-colleges that got affiliated to the board during the tenure of Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh, the former Chairman of the BSEB who was involved in toppers scam.
BSEB Chairman, Anand Kishore also said that more action will take place in the future to improve the education system in the state.
Strong action has been taken against those who were involved in the topper scam including Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and his wife Usha Sinha. Apart from them, three dozen people have been put behind bars. Baccha Rai, the Director of Bishun Rai College was also arrested as the scam started from his institution.
The toppers scam defamed the education system of the entire nation when it hit international headlines in May 2016. The scam was exposed when the toppers Ruby Rai (Arts Toppers) and Saurabh Shrestha (Science Topper) could not answer basic questions related to their subjects while giving interviews to media-persons.
