AIIMS Mangalagiri (Andhra Pradesh) is set to commence its first MBBS batch from August 30, 2018. The classes for the first MBBS batch will take place in a temporary campus situated at Siddhartha Government Medical College, Vijayawada.
AIIMS Andhra Pradesh is set to begin its first batch of MBBS course from August 30, 2018. The classes for the first MBBS batch will take place in a temporary campus situated at Siddhartha Government Medical College, Vijayawada. The construction of AIIMS Andhra Pradesh permanent campus is underway and is expected to be completed by 2020. The permanent campus will come up at Mangalagiri, which is 12 km away from Vijayawada.
The authorities of AIIMS Andhra Pradesh have made all the arrangements and provided necessary infrastructure as per norms to begin the classes. The institute has enrolled 50 students to its first batch, the selection for which is based on AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam 2018.

The central government has appointed the required faculty to teach students at AIIMS Andhra Pradesh. The temporary campus also comprises of hostels for students and quarters for faculty members. Deputy Director of AIIMS, Mr. Sharmadeep Sinha had reviewed the arrangements and expressed his satisfaction.
The intake of students will increase in the subsequent years, and the premier medical institute will function from the temporary campus until the completion of permanent buildings construction at Mangalagiri. However, the outpatient medical services at AIIMS Mangalagiri will start from December 2018.

The official inauguration of first MBBS batch will take place soon. However, the classes will commence from August 30, 2018.
Recently, the state government of Andhra Pradesh revealed that AIIMS Mangalagiri would be named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
