The All India Institute of Medical Sciences which is to be set up in Mangalagiri which is just 12 Kms away from Vijayawada, is facing lack of funds for the construction. The central government did not allocate any funds for the construction in the recent budget.
Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas announced recently that the central government is planning to invite tenders for the construction of AIIMS at a cost of Rs.1800 crore. So far the levelling of land has been done in the 193 acres .
The central government announced that it would set up the premier institute at Mangalagiri at the time of bifurcation to render better medical services to the people of the region. Union Minister J.P Naidu laid the foundation stone on December 23,2015. Since the foundation there haven’t been any construction commenced. There was no masterplan framed for the construction.
According to the sources, the buildings would be ready within two years once the construction begins. The central government would appoint doctors, nurses and other medical staff required for the hospital. A medical college attached to the AIIMS will be started. Efficient professors will be appointed in the medical college attached to AIIMS. P.G medical courses, super specialty courses also likely to start in the college.
It would be really lucky for this region if the construction is completed in the estimated period as there are a lot of students who wants to opt Medicine and stay in the region.
