After a delay of two months, All India Institute of Medical Sciences has issued a notification for the Ph.D. programme for the academic session 2017-18. The release of official notification was postponed due to increase in seats as well as the introduction of new seats in other disciplines and subjects. Earlier, AIIMS had issued notification for the Ph.D. course on May 11, 2017. However, it had been postponed later. Those candidates who submitted the online application based on the May 11 notification must register again for the admission to the Ph.D. programme. The registration fee paid by these candidates was refunded to their respective bank accounts.

AIIMS offers the Ph.D. course in some of the following departments (Only major departments are listed below): -
- Anatomy
- Medical Oncology
- Biochemistry
- Physiology
- Pathology
- Paediatrics
- Pharmacology
For registration, the candidates must open the official examination website of AIIMS to register. Open the ‘Academic Courses’ tab on the homepage, and select ‘Ph.D.’ Complete the registration process after reading the instructions.
For OBC and General category, the registration fee is Rs. 1,000 while for SC/ST category it is Rs. 800. OPH candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.
