After a gap of around 15 years, University of Allahabad authorities will hold its convocation. The convocation event will be held on 5th September. Kailash Satyarthi, Noble Prize Winner will be the chief guest for the occasion.
In addition to granting the medals to the meritorious students, AU professor Mr Chitranjan informed that the will also be awarding doctoral degree to the Chief Guest. After being reinstated as the Central University in 2005 this would be the first convocation for the AU after a gap of 15 years. The last convocation ceremony took place in the 2003-04, academic year.

AU has started preparing for the convocation on the occasion of Teacher's Day which is on 5th September. According to professor Chitranjan for the convocation, several committees are formed and many meetings were organised in which they discussed on several agendas such as stage preparations, name of prominent personalities for the chief guest, event size, number of participants, refreshments, etc.
Professor RK Sing, the senior faculty members informed that various VC's & other faculty members tried to organise the convocation ceremony in the past but there were many challenges. One of the biggest reason was that the Vice- Chancellor of the university was changing frequently.
