Amity University to Cooperate with University of Namibia, Africa

A high-level Delegation from the University of Namibia, Africa visited Amity University, Sector- 125, Noida to explore the potential areas of collaboration between both the Institutions.

The Delegation was led by Prof. Lazarus Hanguls - Vice Chancellor, University of Namibia who was accompanied by Prof Frank Paul Kavishe – Prof. and Founding Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Namibia, Ms. C. A Violet Hanse- First Secretary (Political) Namibia High Commission and Mr. Justus Kashindi Ausiku -Namibia.

The Delegation was welcomed by Wg Cdr SK Goel-Deputy Director, International Affairs Department along with senior officials and Directors of Amity University

Sharing his views, Prof. Lazarus Hanguls - Vice Chancellor, University of Namibia (UNAM) expressed that the visit to Amity University provided him and his colleagues a great opportunity to learn from the great wealth of experience accumulated by Amity University over the years. Talking about the University of Namibia, Prof. Hanguls said that the University was established 23 years ago as first University in Namibia and today, it has twelve Campuses with over 19 000 students from different continents studying in them. He stressed that they are happy to have initiated an association with Amity University and India since they have a lot to learn from the traditional academic wealth of the country. He stated that the scope of cooperation between UNAM and Amity is immense and expressed his desire for cultural cooperation and long lasting, sustainable relationship with Amity University.

Addressing the distinguished members of the Delegation, Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh- Additional Group Vice Chancellor, Amity remarked that India and Africa have a lot of commonalities which include similar history, the similar struggle for freedom and a similar dedication to rise against the circumstances and shine. Prof. (Dr.) Singh said that the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has a special liking for Africa and quoting Hon’ble Prime Minister, he said, “If the world has to grow both India and Africa has to grow”. Sharing the potential areas for mutual cooperation, Dr. Singh said that keeping in view the core areas of strength of both the Universities, an association can be forged in the area of Distance and e-learning programmes, Joint Faculty Development Programmes and Curriculum Development, Joint bidding for Consultancy projects., Joint filing of patents, Faculty Exchange, “India Immersion Programme” and others.

During the occasion, Document of Academic Cooperation was signed by Prof. Lazarus Hanguls - Vice Chancellor, University of Namibia (UNAM) and Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh- Additional Group Vice Chancellor, Amity.

The Delegation was taken for a round of Campus and was shown a state of the art Studio of Amity School of Communication, fully equipped and well stocked Library, Amity Innovation Incubator and H- Block Plaza.
