Andhra Pradesh to Get 50 More Junior Colleges

50 junior colleges will be granted permission soon be operational in Andhra Pradesh. The state government had been allocating 15 percent of the funds every year for providing quality education.  

Andhra Pradesh to Get 50 More Junior Colleges

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao mentioned that more than 10 lakh students were enrolled in intermediate in the 3014 junior colleges under the Board of Intermediate (BIE) and another 50 junior colleges will be granted permission soon.

In a speech to students during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of BIE at the AIU Convention Centre in Vishakhapatnam, Rao said every year the state government had been allocating 15 percent of the funds to the education sector to provide quality education to children. Funds were utilized for infrastructure development, technology and for appointing qualified faculty at various government colleges.

He also mentioned that quality education is the only tool to overcome difficulties in life and he asked the students to set some goals. He urged that the students should come up with new innovations by making use of the upgraded technology and bring honour to their state, district, and nation.

B Udaya Lakshmi, BIE Commissioner said that as per the Kothari commission recommendation in 1968, the BIE was set up with 238 colleges with approx. 40,000 students. Now, the BIE has spread its wings and is in the top in the national education boards list. A souvenir was also released on the occasion of successful completion of 50 years of BIE. Ambedkar University diary and prizes were distributed to students who performed well in studies and co-curricular activities.

Rao also inaugurated a Science Fair at the AU Convention Hall. Students from different junior colleges displayed their inventions during the event.
