Ankit Kumar topped the Joint Entrance BED examinations conducted by the Lucknow University securing 316.67 marks out of 400 .
The results of the exams were declared by the Lucknow University on Friday. Preeti Pandey from Faizabad secured the fifth position and the first among the girls in the examinations. Ankit Kumar, who belongs to Banda, said that he had worked hard for the exams and was not surprised at securing the top rank.
Ankit said , “I have secured the top rank but I am not sure whether I will join the course as I have already cleared the Lekhpal and the Panchayti Raj Adhikari examinations and am waiting for the interview call,”
Among the first ten were Lavkush Kumar from Allahabad, Ramkit Chauhan from Allahabad, Saurabh Singh from Allahabad, Akhand Pratao Mishra from Varanasi, Prabhakar Chaubey, Manish Pandey, Kamlesh Kumar, Saurabh Kumar Srivastava and Mohit Kumar Shukla from Allahabad and Archit Yadav from Jhansi.
Exam Coordinator YK Sharma said that a total of 3,03,032 candidates registered for the examinations and 2,63,199 appeared in it. He said that there were 1,750 BEd seats in the state and 40 seats in Lucknow University. He said that counselling for the seats would begin from June 6. “The Counselling will begin from June 6 and in 14 cities — Agra, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Jaunput, Jhansi, Meerut, Ghazizabad, Kanpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Faizabad and Gorakhpur — there would be 32 counselling centres” he added.
