Arun Jaitley, Union Finance Minister inaugurated Startup School at Chaheru Campus of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab on September 19, 2016. Addressing the students, he said that he wants to see more entrepreneurs from LPU in coming years.
He also mentioned that some of the countries like South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and the USA are developing rapidly in the field of technology and research. He cited that most of these countries are targeting global markets.

Arun Jaitley also inaugurated a three-day International Day of Peace event at the University. The event was attended by Governor of Punjab, VP Singh Badnore. Addressing the students, he said that students have to develop innovative ideas and be creative in their approach. He also stressed that the students have to try and inculcate logical and analytical thinking.

Before the commencement of the programme, the officials observed a two-minute silence for the soldiers who were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu on September 19, 2016.
