The Assam state government signs MoA with Tata Technologies to upgrade 77 state institutes and provide skills and training to the youth.

Assam signs MoA with Tata Technologies aiming to transform institutes to Centres of Excellence

The state government of Assam signed a Memorandum of Association with Tata Technologies on May 11, 2022, Wednesday. The MoA was signed between Warren Harris, MD, Tata Technologies Ltd, and B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, Principal Secretary, Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department, Assam. The motive of the MoA is to promote the youth and extend skills and training in the field of technology. 

The MoA was signed as an agreement between the Tata Technologies and the Assam Government to reshape and modify 34 polytechnics and 43 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of the state. They will be upgraded to futuristic Centres of Excellence (CoE). The upgrade will bring changes in the curriculum and training aspects. It will also involve the upgradation of equipment to the latest industry needs.

On the basis of constructing a 12,000 square feet building in each institute with an investment of INR 2,756 crore in total, the MoA was signed. Out of which, INR 366 crore will be invested by the Assam government and INR 2,390 crore will be invested by Tata Technologies. It is expected that by 2023 May 10, the structure will start construction under the expertise of Tata Technologies as PWD buildings. The buildings will be used to set up workshops, technology labs, and others to provide the skills and training. 

The event was also attended by the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma. Commenting on the auspicious occasion of the signing of the MoA, the CM states that this collaboration will be marked as a historic event for higher education and skill empowerment for Assam. He adds that with this collaboration, Assam will produce approximately 15,000-20,000 highly skilled professional technical efficient youths each year.

The Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma celebrates one year in office as the Chief Minister in the present government. He expresses gratitude for extending every moment for the development of the state (Assam). Also, on the inauguration of the “Gunotsav 2022” an event aiming to provide quality education for development in Assam, the minister comments. He says that the signing of the MoA will bring the fourth industrial revolution in the state. By unleashing opportunities and skills through smart automation and interconnectivity the state will see a transformation in the education phase.
