BHU Opens Malviya Postdoctoral Fellowships to Both Indian and Foreign Nationals

BHU has revised its notification and announced that the “rolling” applications for “Malviya Postdoctoral Fellowships” are open for both foreign and Indian nationals. The same can be submitted latest by May 30, 2020. 

BHU opens Malviya Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has recently invited Indian nationals to apply for the “Malviya Postdoctoral Fellowships”. Earlier, the university had opened the applications only for Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), foreign nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI).

Revising the notification, BHU later announced that the “rolling” applications are open for both foreign and Indian nationals. The programme shall offer up to 100 positions in various disciplines including Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences and other professional disciplines. Along with this, the notification also mentioned that all the other specifics will remain the same.

The duration of the fellowship will be 3 years which may be extended for 2 more years after evaluation by the concerned committee. The selected candidate will be given an annual research grant of Rs. 3 lakh along with Rs. 1 lakh per month. In addition, limited campus accommodations will be provided at a nominal cost.

Eligibility Criteria for BHU’s Malviya Postdoctoral Fellowship

To be able to apply for the Malviya Postdoctoral Fellowship of BHU, both Indian and foreign nationals would be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Ph.D from any of the top 500 Institutions according to THE or Q-S ranking and an extraordinary academic record throughout or a three-year postdoctoral experience from any of these institutions.

  • The candidates should have independent research capability and publications in high impact journals.

  • The age of the applicant should be less than 35 years.

List of Documents Required for BHU Fellowship Application Process

Here is the list of documents that one should have to be able to take up the fellowship:

  • The proposed research plan of up to 500 words.

  • PDF files of at least two to five important publications and a brief description of the contribution of the candidate.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a list of all publications.

  • Recommendation letter of PDF advisor or thesis supervisor.

  • A document assuring consent from a faculty member from the university who is willing to host the candidate.
