The ‘BMU Leadership Series,’ an innovative initiative of the BML Munjal University resumed today. The first session of the new academic year saw the participation by guest speakers His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain to India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives – Gustavo Manuel de Arístegui Y San Román, along with the former Ambassador of India to Japan – Dr. Aftab Seth. The talk was delivered to around 800 students and faculty members of the university.
The ‘Leadership Series’ has been conceptualised as a departure from the standard learning format for students, the goal being to provide them with insights from real-life achievers. Both Dr. Aftab Seth and H.E. Gustavo Manuel held the audience captive with compelling commentary on their achievements and experiences in various countries around the world.
H.E. Gustavo Manuel advised the students about the journey they are about to start in life. He said, “You are starting a very exciting phase of your lives. Everything you do, do with Purpose, with Principle, with Pride. Do it with your heart and strive for excellence. Do it with tenacity. And do it to your best. Purpose. Principle. Pride. Tenacity. These should be embedded into everything you do." H.E. Gustavo Manuel also spoke about the growing relationship between Spain and India, and answered questions about Spanish foreign policy and Spanish dominance in sports such as football, hockey, racing, etc.
Dr. Seth regaled the audience with unique stories of his experiences across the world, including in Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall, Pakistan, and Japan. He spoke about India’s foreign policy, specifically about the relationships between India and Japan, India and China, and India and countries in South East Asia.
Last year, the university also hosted guest speakers including General Bikram Singh, former Chief of Army Staffs and Mr. Arijit Ghosh, President of Honeywell Aerospace, etc to give students direct access to, and insights from industry leaders.
