Atal Community Innovation Center-BMU (ACIC-BMU), a Hero Group initiative, was officially launched by BML Munjal University (BMU). By launching the platform, the university has followed its philosophy of building an ecosystem that nurtures 'INNOVATORS & ENTREPRENEURS' that are zealous, ethical, and tenacious to create not only economic value but a solution for community problems and an impact on society.
In the presence of Prof. Chintan Vaishnav, Director, Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, the Center was inaugurated. In addition to Shyam Menon, ACIC-BMU Foundation Board Member and VC-BML Munjal University, Mr. Manglesh Yadav, AIM Program Director, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Jindal, Principal, Government Polytechnic, Manesar, Mr. Manglesh Yadav, Program Director, AIM. Industry experts, mentors, and investors attended the event.
An amount of 2.5 crores would be provided by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) to ACIC-BMU over a period of five years. BMU would match the Atal Innovation Mission grant. 22 startups are being incubated by ACIC-BMU. In addition to students and faculty from BMU, outside innovators are also involved in the founding of these startups.
The ACIC-BMU Foundation's CEO, Prof. Davinder Singh, outlined this phenomenon this way: "India is experiencing a phenomenon where stakeholders are pooling resources and creating a startup hub.". Through ACIC-BMU, incubators at universities promote the culture of entrepreneurship. The importance of motivating local students and youth to be innovative and entrepreneurial cannot be overstated. In light of ACIC-BMU's establishment, we want to make sure that enough weight is given to this area. BMU's ACIC will connect the start-up ecosystem with various innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.
By providing students with experiential learning opportunities, ACIC-BMU exemplifies the University's philosophy of preparing them for the world of tomorrow. During mentorship sessions with entrepreneurs and technical professionals, budding innovators and entrepreneurs learn how to establish and construct a startup. At BMU, the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I2E) focuses on teaching, research, and consulting to advance the university’s innovation agenda. Students at BMU can also get involved in social entrepreneurship clubs like the Start-up and Entrepreneurship Club and Enactus.
