British Council to Grant Funding Worth Rs. 37 Lakh for Creative Ideas

The British Council has declared 'Digital Open Call’ for all creative people who can come up with innovative ideas to unite people in UK, India and the world. The winning idea will get funding of Rs.37 lakh. 

British Council to Grant Funding Worth Rs. 37 Lakh for Creative Ideas

The British Council in India has declared 'Digital Open Call’ for all creative people who can come up with a unique idea which can impact and unite millions of people across UK, India and the world. This is done to mark the 30th anniversary of the World Wide Web (www) in March 2019. As per a statement from the British Council, the winner will get GBP 40,000 (Rs. 37 lakh) funding for the idea’s launch in 2019.

British Council said that they would use this milestone to emphasize on what art and artists of tomorrow look like through digital creativity and this will also give an opportunity to creative artists, boutique creative firms, individuals and gamers to show their talent to Indian and global audiences, the official statement said.

Through this initiative, the British Council is looking at exploring the creativity to reshape the world, said Tom Birtwistle, British Council Director, North India. He further said the British Council is looking at innovative creative ideas and solutions which can inspire and connect millions of young people in UK and India through art and culture.

There have been exciting projects which were run earlier such as Saptan Stories, a crowdsourced storytelling project which ran for 7 weeks. It was in collaboration with Aardman Animations. The Digital Open Call initiative is open to anyone who’s based in UK or India and has a track record of developing new digital experiences which can reach a new and diverse group of young audiences.

The project proposals must be submitted latest by 31st January 2019 by afternoon UK time.
