The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to conduct the practical examinations at theory examinations centres from the 2020 board exams. Ranveer Singh, Regional Director, CBSE Dehradun Zone informed that the board is planning to introduce new changes from the next academic session and to conduct practical exams outside is going to be one of the major change. He also informed that the board is also planning to introduce a new marking scheme for the practical exams as well.
The decision to conduct the CBSE practical board exams externally was taken during the examination committee meeting by the board last year. The same was approved later by the governing body of the board.
Currently, class 12th assessment takes place in three forms. One is the practical exams which are popularly known as internal assessment, board examination and assessment done on the basis of co-scholastic areas. The co-scholastic areas include health and physical education.
The ratio of internal assessment (practical) in Political Science, Legal Studies and Mathematics is 0:100 whereas in Commerce/ Humanities and some other subjects it is 20:80. The ratio of science and other subjects is 30:70. For Fine Arts and other subjects, it is 70:30.

The board is planning to introduce certain changes as a part of its goal in achieving the aforementioned skills for all the CBSE students.
