CBSE Special Provisions for Student Athletes: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced special provisions for students representing India or their respective states in national and international sports events or Olympiads. These measures are meant to help students balance sports and academics without compromising. For Class 10, students who missed the February exams can take them in the May session. Recently, the CBSE Class 10 Date Sheet 2026 was announced for Phases 1 and 2. Class 12 students may be granted a special chance to appear for exams if required, but special provisions for the exam are yet to be formulated. Schools must submit the required certification, and students need to provide a valid participation certificate.

CBSE has issued special guidelines to help students balance academics and sports -

  • Class 10 exam flexibility: Students who can’t take their exams in February may appear in May.
  • Class 12 special exams: Exams will be scheduled after the regular cycle if required
  • Necessary documents: Certificates of participation from recognised organisations such as SAI, BCCI, and HBCSE.
  • Internal assessment: Schools must submit internal and practical marks on time.
  • Last date for applying: Applications must reach CBSE regional offices by December 15, 2025.
  • School coordination: Schools should help students communicate with CBSE to meet eligibility requirements.

CBSE Class 10 Exams 2026: Steps to apply for special examination provisions for Sports and Olympiad students

Students need to submit requests with the required documents to use the alternative examination system.

Step 1: Obtain a participation certificate from a recognised authority (SAI, BCCI, HBCSE, etc.).
Step 2: Complete the exemption request form provided by the respective school or CBSE.
Step 3: Submit the filled form along with the certificate to your CBSE Regional Office.
