Check Out the List of Items Prohibited by IITs for JEE Advanced 2017

After CBSE’s list of prohibited items in NEET 2017 exam, IITs have also released a list of items that students are prohibited from carrying in the exam hall for JEE Advanced scheduled for May 21, 2017. The list has been introduced to prevent cheating and malpractices during the exam. Check the entire list of prohibited items below.

List of items prohibited for JEE Advanced:

  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any sort of electronic devices like pen drives, health band, mobile phones/smartphones, earphones/microphones, electronic pen, iPad/tabs, digital watches, calculators, bluetooth devices, etc.
  • Any sort of study material, geometry boxes, writing pad, stationary pouches and scales will not be allowed in the exam hall.
  • Articles like an abacus, log book and side rule are also prohibited from the exam hall.
  • Blank paper or any piece of paper with notes are also prohibited in JEE Advanced 2017.
  • Jewellery, handbag, wallets, closed saldals and shoes are strictly prohibited from the exam hall. Students are advised to wear open footwear on the day of the exam.
  • Clothes with big buttons, full sleeves or veil are also not allowed in the exam hall.

List of items that a candidate must carry for JEE Advanced 2017:

  • The downloaded copy of the admit card
  • Any of the following original Photo Identity Card: Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, School/ College ID, Passport or PAN Card
  • Transparent-body black ball pen along with pencil and eraser

In 2016, the IITs had introduced a dress code for the JEE Advanced exam. The IIT Council has released a detailed list of items that are not allowed during the exam including a lot of ‘non-wearables' for JEE Advanced 2017.

The list of prohibited items released by the IITs is more or less same to the list that was released by CBSE for NEET UG 2017.

Jewellery items such as nose pins, hair pins, rings, chains, bangles, pendants, earrings, modern watches, badges, hair bands, big buttons, chains/necklaces, brooches, etc. have been strictly prohibited during the exam. Veil and full sleeves clothes are also among the list non-wearables.

However, the IIT Council has decided to allow the students to wear simple analogue watches to keep a track of time while writing the exam. Digital and smart watches are not allowed inside the exam hall.
