Class 12th Chandigarh Boy Selected by Google USA for Special Training Programme

A dream of many is to work with Internet Giants like Google, Facebook etc. at some point in their life. This has definitely come true for a 16-year-old Chandigarh boy who has been selected by Google to pursue a programme on icon designing.

A recent class 12th pass out, Harshit Sharma of Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 33, also known as GMSSS Chandigarh, will be going to the United States this month to take up the task.

Harshit will be trained for about a year initially along with which he will be offered a stipend amount of Rs. 4 lakh per month. Once he successfully completes the training module at Google, he will be entitled to Rs. 12 lakh per month.

Government officials issued a press release regarding the details of his selection. They revealed that Harshit will begin his training from mid-August.

On speaking about his selection, Harshit said that he applied for this role in the month of May after which he was interviewed online. He has a keen interest in the field of Graphic Designing for almost a decade now. Google selected him for the programme on the basis of the posters that he has designed.

A teacher from his school described him as a brilliant student who has a good knack for technology while the Principal of the school said that he was an all-rounder student who worked tirelessly to bring laurels to the school. He also received an award prize money of Rs. 7,000 for his work under PM's Digital India scheme.

Harshit belongs to Mathana which is in Kurukshetra region of Haryana. He had studied Information Technology (IT) in class 12th. Both his parents are teachers while his younger brother is currently in class 10th.
