The officials of BCI had sent a notification to Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of all the universities including NLUs regarding revival of age restriction for UG law programmes. According to Legal Education Rules 2008, the upper age limit for five-year law programme is 20 years for General category and 22 years for SC/ST/OBC communities.

The law examination regulatory body has also revived the age bar for admission to L.L.B programmes. The applicants who are appearing for entrance exams like DU LLB should not be less than 30 years old if they belong to General category. However, the age limit for SC/ST/OBC candidates is 35 years.

The age limit will affect the candidates who are applying for UG law exams like CLAT 2017 & AILET 2017 drastically. The candidates who have taken a year drop and are preparing for national law exams will be affected as the age limit has been revived to 20 years.
