Cotton College celebrated its 116th Foundation Day at the college’s Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha (KBR) auditorium on May 27, 2016.
Sahitya Academy Award winner and former head, department of Geography, Cotton College, Suren talukdar, Sahitya Academy Award winner and eminent writer and poet Kuladhar Saikia and award-winning filmmaker Dip Bhuyan were felicitated during the event.
The chief-guest for the programme was PK Borthakur, Principal Secretary, Education Department whereas the guest of honour was Dr Dhrubajyoti Saikia, Vice Chancellor, Cotton College State University.
Other guests present during the occasion were, Dr Nirada Devi, Principal, Cotton College and some other faculty members.
During the occasion, three former students of Cotton College were honoured for their achievement in different fields. Ex- students of the college, Barun Purakastha, Subhrajyoti Bora and Mamoni Doley were also felicitated for clearing the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination in 2015 and 2016.
In addition, state position holders of the college in the arts and science stream of the higher secondary examination, 2015, along with those who excelled in sports were also felicitated in the event.
The annual college news-letter, Events was released formally during the occasion.
Overall, the foundation-day was a huge success.
