CSIR-UGC NET Exam Postponed for Assam and Meghalaya: Revised Dates

Amid the protests that are currently taking place in the cities of Northeastern states, the National Testing Agency has released a notification stating the rescheduling of the CSIR-UGC NET exam dates. NTA will be releasing the revised dates soon, while the exam will still be conducted for other states.

CSIR-UGC NET Exam Postponed

Given the current circumstances in the Northeastern states of India, the National Testing Agency has released a notification announcing the rescheduling of the Joint CSIR-UGC NET exam. As per the previous schedule, the CSIR-UGC NET had been scheduled for 15th December 2019.

As per the public notice released by the autonomous organization under the Department of Higher Education, all candidates from the cities in Assam, viz. Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Silchar, Sivasagar and Jorhat, along with Shilong (Meghalaya) are being informed of the rescheduling of the Joint CSIR-UGC NET exam.

The notice further added that the CSIR-UGC NET exams have been postponed for the students mentioned above only. Candidates from all other states will be appearing for the exam on the stipulated date, i.e. 15th December 2019.

The National Testing Agency has also stated that these students will be informed of the rescheduled exam dates for CSIR-UGC NET in due time. All candidates are requested to stay updated on the topic.

About CSIR-UGC NET

At an all India level, there are nearly 2.75 lakh candidates who will be attempting CSIR-UGC NET across India, with equal opportunities offered to different reserved categories as well. This year, the National Testing Agency will be conducting the CSIR-UGC NET exam and have prepared all the exam centres to curb the use of malpractices.

The exam is conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and will be conducted in over 600 centres across 214 cities in India. The exam will be conducted in two different shifts and will be done so for 5 subjects.
