Delhi Government Free Competitive Exam Coaching Attracts 4,000 Students

As per the recent review of the scheme, 4,000 students are seeking the benefit of fee competitive exam coaching scheme of Delhi Government. The scheme was launched by Delhi CM in 2017.

Delhi Government Free Competitive Exam Coaching Attracts 4,000 Students

The Government of Delhi has conducted a review of existing free competitive exam coaching scheme. As per the latest review, almost 4,000 students have been enrolled in the scheme until 2018. The government's target is to attract 5,000 students. At present, the sealing of the coaching fee is up to Rs 40,000, while the eligible students are also provided with a stipend of Rs 2500 per month.

Through this scheme, students whose annual income of the family is less than Rs. 2 lakh will get 100% assistance. Similarly, if the annual income of the family is between Rs. 2 to 6 lakh, the government will provide 75 per cent assistance. On the other hand, eligible students will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 2,500 besides free coaching for competitive exams.

On December 9, 2017, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal launched a new scheme through which the Government of Delhi will provide free competitive exam coaching to SC and ST students. The government will provide free coaching to those reserved class category students who are preparing for different competitive exams like civil services, banking, judicial services, medicine and engineering.

The exclusive scheme launched for SC/ST students has been named as ‘Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana’. The free coaching classes will be conducted for SC/ST students through established and known coaching institutes.

Initially, the Delhi government will provide free coaching to a selected 100 SC/ST students, ultimately later aim to benefit about 5,000 students soon.

Addressing the gathering after launching the scheme, Chief Minister of Delhi pointed that the government is translating the dreams of Baba Saheb into reality by making education available and accessible to SC/STs, OBCs, poor, minorities and other socially and economically backward sections of the society, he highlighted.

Adding further, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal revealed that the government would soon launch a scheme through which loans will be provided to the poor and needy for starting their small ventures.
