An official confirmed on 6th August 2019, Tuesday, that the Government of Delhi has joined hands with a leading knowledge platform for providing free of cost online courses to doctors in order to upgrade their medical skills. This announcement was made at a conclave that was inaugurated by Satyendra Jain, the Delhi Health Minister.
A senior official announced that Omnicuris, a leading Continued Medical Education (CME) platform that functions online, has collaborated with DMC (the Delhi Medical Council) for providing free online courses and modules to the doctors of the Delhi government so that they can upgrade their medical skills.
Satyendra Jain spoke on this initiative and said that the best part of the CME platform is that students do not have to travel anywhere far for attending the class sessions. It is extremely convenient for a doctor to access this session from anywhere, even from the comfort of his/ her home, and he/ she does not even have to pay for it.
The Delhi Medical Council is a statutory body that was constituted in the month of September in 1998. DMC was formed as a result of the enactment of the Delhi Medical Council Act. DMC is vested with duties, powers, and functions of regulating and upgrading the practice of the modern scientific system of medicine in the region of Delhi.
He suggested to include chapters on exercise, food, soft skills, and thought process in all the modules and said that these things are very important not only for a patient but also for a doctor.
The president of DMC, Dr. Arun Kumar Gupta, appreciated this move and said that doctors of the Delhi government can now update their knowledge and also get some credit points without actually moving from one place. He said that it is extremely important to keep your knowledge updated in this era of rapidly advancing medical science.
The Delhi government is taking smart steps to not only enhance the knowledge of doctors but also to groom them and give them an overall training of certain soft skills. Over one lakh doctors have accessed the online CME modules shared on Omnicuris and they belong to both public as well as private sectors. This initiative will definitely enhance the knowledge and skills of the Delhi government’s doctors.
