Delhi University Grants Direct Admission to Paralympics & Olympics Participants

  • With an objective to honour the achievements of participants in these tournaments, Sports Council of Delhi University decided to grant them direct admission.
Delhi University Grants Direct Admission to Paralympics & Olympics Participants

Delhi University released the first cut-off list on June 23, 2017. This year, the varsity granted direct admission to almost ten students who took part in international sports meet representing India. As per the admission norms of DU, 5% seats are reserved for the candidates applying under sports quota. Around 13,000 students applied for these seats. Usually, Delhi University conducts various rounds of trials for these applicants, and only after that grant admissions. However, this year, the varsity granted direct admission to the candidates who represented the nation in various international sports events.

As per the guidelines of sports council of Delhi University, the direct admission rule is applicable on those students who represent India in: -

  • Paralympics
  • Olympic Games
  • South Asian Games
  • Asian games
  • Asian Championships
  • Common Wealth Games
  • World Cup
  • World Championship

According to Govt. of India, these are the highest honour tournaments in the field of sports. With an objective to honour the achievements of participants in these tournaments, Sports Council of Delhi University decided to grant them direct admission. As an initial attempt, the varsity granted direct admission to ten students. Among these ten students, eight students are shooters, one swimmer and one javelin thrower.

Cricketer Pavan Negi also applied for admission under Spots Quota. However, he did not upload documents properly during the online registration process. Therefore, he will need to take part in the trials to be eligible for the seat.
