DU Increases Seats in its Finance, Business, Economics Programme from 2017

DU Increases Seats in its Finance, Business, Economics Programme from 2017

Delhi University (DU) has increased the number of seats offered in the finance, economics and business. DU used to offer a total of 884 seats in its BMS, BA (Honours) in Business Economics and BBA (Financial Investment Analysis) courses that will be increased to 1,162 from the session 2017.

Admission to these three courses will be done on the basis of DU Joint Admission Test (JAT). The university has scraped group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) for admission to the three courses.

In place of GD and PI, DU will be shortlisting students on the basis of their marks in Class 12 board exams as well as the DU JAT entrance exam. The registration process for the exam has started and the last date to apply for JAT is June 25. The exam will be conducted by the University in the first week of July.

DU JAT is a two-hour long exam where candidates will have to answer objective-type questions. The candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the score secured by them in the exam.

Following is the pattern of DU JAT:

  • Multiple choice questions will be asked from topics such as Quantitative Ability, Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning, General English along with General and Business Awareness.
  • There will be a total of 100 questions each will comprise of 4 marks. Negative marking is applicable in the exam and one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. The total score of the exam is 400 marks.
  • The weightage given to entrance exam will be 65%, whereas, 35% weightage will be given to the percentage scored in Class 12 Board Exams.

Only those students who have secured at least 60% marks (best of four subjects including English and Mathematics) in class 12 will be eligible for the DU JAT entrance exam.

DU’s Economics, Finance and Business programmes are highly rated by the industry. Students can either choose to take jobs or apply for post-graduation after pursuing graduation in either of these fields.
