Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the East Delhi campus of Delhi Technical University (DTU) on August 18, 2017. Addressing the teachers and students during the inaugural ceremony, CM of Delhi urged them to work towards gaining a position in the list of top 10 technical universities or institutes across the globe. It could be possible only by encouraging students to become entrepreneurs. Therefore, CM of Delhi advised the teachers of DTU to encourage at least 50% of students towards becoming successful entrepreneurs.
Mr. Kejriwal further indicated that students must always be in the position of creating jobs, i.e., job creators and provide employment to others. Unemployment problem in the country can only be addressed only if 50% of students aspire to become entrepreneurs. Students who turn into entrepreneurs will play a significant role in nation building.

Speaking about the significance of research, Mr. Kejriwal pointed that it must benefit common people and students. He advised DTU to encourage more students to take up research and figure out exact demands of the industrialists. Therefore, the government will be able to provide enough resources for carrying out the research. By giving more emphasis to research, it would be possible for the university to find a spot in the list of top 10 universities across the world, he added.

He also directed the Delhi Technical University to submit a blueprint within a month explaining the strategy for achieving top ranks at the global level.
The academic session for the year 2017-18 will begin from August 21, 2017, at Delhi Technical University. This year, 300 students secured admission in various courses at DTU.
