The Andhra Pradesh government decided to set up two more IIITs at Srikakulam and Ongole. The government passed a circular regarding this a month ago and it planned to run the classes from this academic year in the temporary buildings. So far, no steps are being taken out for setting up IIIT’s in temporary buildings in Srikakulam and Ongole.
There are two IIIT’s in Andhra Pradesh. One is located at Nuziveedu, Krishna district and the other is located at Idupulapaya, YSR Kadapa. Each IIIT consist of 1000 seats and the admission process must be completed by the end of June every year. This year the government planned to set up two more IIIT’s and no further steps have been taken out.
Recently, the government has come to a conclusion that, it would allow admissions for Srikakulam IIIT in Nuziveedu IIIT and Ongole IIIT admissions in Idupulapaya IIIT. The government hasn’t passed any circulars so far regarding its decision.
Initially, the government announced that the merit list of candidates will be announced on 24-June-2016. But, due to the delay in the allotment of seats of new IIIT’s, it has been postponed. This year IIIT’s in AP received 30,000 applications. Last year it was only 19,000. Students and parents are keen on joining their children in IIIT’s. The preference will be given to those candidates who secured 10/10 Grade Points in 10th Standard.
