Founder and Chairperson of MYRA School of Business, Dr. Shalini Urs shared her inspiring entrepreneurial journey and talked about the aspects that play an essential role in an educationalist’s life. She shared her experiences throughout her journey of leading MYRA School to flourish into a successful b-school.

Dr. Urs has a lot of faith in education and said that quality education can bring positive personal as well as societal changes. Having 41 years of experience in the academia, Dr. Urs believes that education can carve out the path for development. With global exposure and international linkages, Dr. Urs ventured into educational entrepreneurship to help students get quality business education.

Dr. Urs also talked about the various challenges that an entrepreneur has to face and said that gaining people’s trust is the hardest thing in business. Talking about her experience in the industry, she said that one has to work very hard to make the people believe that sincere educationists will capitalize their hard earned money to make a difference.

With her strong leadership, Dr. Urs was able to introduce commitment and maintaining transparency. She aimed for long-term developments instead of short-term advantages to overcome all the hurdles.

She also credited part of her growth to Mysuru. Dr. Urs said that each city has its own USP and Mysuru can be a big educational brand for India. She also believes that the city can be turned into the Knowledge and Educational hub or the Boston of India.

With good connectivity and attracting experienced educationalists, Mysore can be turned into the educational brand of India, added Dr. Urs.

Talking about the place of women in the business world, she said that gender has no role to play in the growth of a person. Dr. Urs believes that potential and hard work can lead an individual to success. “Your attitude determines your altitude in your entrepreneurial journey”, she added.
