FTII to Conduct Short-Term Film Appreciation Course in Bhubaneswar

As a part of its national-wide programme to popularise film learning, the FTII Pune (Film and Television Institute of India) will conduct a short-term (one-week duration) course in Film Appreciation at Museum of Tribal Arts & Crafts, Bhubaneswar. It is a great opportunity for the interested candidates to understand cinema from India’s leading film schools. The course will begin from February 14, 2018, and FTII is conducting such short-term courses in Odisha for the first time.

At present, FTII is on a mission to promote cinema literacy through a few courses like Film Appreciation. The representatives and faculty of the premier film institute have been touring the entire country to popularize film education, as well as, to make film education accessible and affordable to everyone.

The one-week long Film Appreciation course will be conducted by FTII in collaboration with Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTET). FTII will take inputs from NFAI Pune (National Film Archive of India) to conduct the Film Appreciation course.

The Film Appreciation course is open to all. However, only 100 candidates will be given admission, and the admission will be based on the first-come-first-served basis. Interested candidates can directly contact the representatives of FTII at Museum of Tribal Arts and Crafts, Bhubaneswar or officials at DTET Odisha. An alumnus of FTII, Mr. Pankaj Saxena will conduct the programme.

Over the past nine months, FTII conducted Film Appreciation courses in Srinagar, Guwahati, Jaipur, Delhi, Nagpur, Mumbai and Pune.

The Film Appreciation course is expected to give a boost to Odia film industry.
