The Department of Communication and Journalism, Gauhati University organised a State-Level consultation on finalising the digital warehouse design for C4D in Assam in collaboration with UNICEF in the department premises on May 30.
The event was attended by many noted dignitaries and faculty members of the state. There was a discussion to finalise the design for initiated idea of opening an online portal for the first time in North-East that will comprise of information and materials for communication for development (C4D).
This will be done with an aim to create a platform where authentic information can be accessed without much chaos. The portal will be covering areas in the field of education, women and children, health, agriculture, disaster, environment, rural development, peace and conflict and much more.
Ideas were put forward by experts wherein they presented their queries and suggestions as to how the portal can be operated. The portal is expected to be informative and interactive and will mainly target the journalists who write for development communication with correct data. It is said that the portal is going to be user-friendly so anyone can have access to it easily.
Some of the key concerns of the project will be-to finalise the developing arreas, to look at the sustainability and update maintenance, and finally to take care of the copyright issues.
