Uttar Pradesh Board High School and Intermediate examinations results were declared on Sunday, the girls once again outperformed the boys. However, the pass percentage of class X showed a five per cent increase while the class XII saw a one per cent decline in comparison to the last year’s results. Addressing a press conference on the occasion, the Director, Secondary Education and Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad,Dr Amarnath Verma, said that the overall pass percentage in High School stood at 87.66 per cent.
The pass percentage for girls this year stood at 91.11 per cent while that for boys was 84.82 per cent. Last year the overall pass percentage was 83.74 per cent while in Intermediate it was 87.99 percent. Announcing the result of the High School examination first, the Director, Dr Amarnath Verma, said that a total of 37,49,754 students had been registered in the examination -2016 conducted by the UP Board out of which 32,59,203 had appeared in the examination and a total of 28,56,998 examinees were declared successful.
The overall pass percentage in the High School examination swelled by about four percent from last year when it was 83.74 per cent. But so was not the case with Intermediate as the pass percentage dipped by one per cent. It was 87.99 per cent compared to the 88.83 per cent last year.
