The Centre for Distance Learning of GITAM University, Visakhapatnam will organize its fifth convocation ceremony on April 14, 2017. Dr. S.R. Rao, Advisor to Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology will award degrees to a total number of 1,369 students who have completed their PG courses in May & December 2014, May & December 2015 and May 2016.
With an objective to encourage the students, the varsity will also present gold medals to the toppers of MBA (HRM), MBA (General), M.Com, M.A (Economics) and M.A (English) courses.

Prof. M.S. Prasada Rao, Vice-Chancellor of GITAM University expressed his happiness over the fact hat the Centre for Distance Learning of the varsity has successfully enrolled 58,500 students by March 31, 2017. The VC mentioned that the major focus would be to reach more students, particularly in rural areas. The varsity offers CDL courses at a lesser cost. Various regional centers are playing a crucial role in reaching out to a large pool of students.

Prof. M. Pothuraju, Registrar of GITAM University explained that the varsity has made the entire process of admissions online. The students can have a separate profile on the CDL portal of the varsity. The students, who wish to enroll in various programmes of CDL, can register online and pay the course fee. The students need not visit the regional center to enroll for various courses.
Prof. T. Srinivas, Director of Centre for Distance Learning (CDL) indicated that various programmes offered by the center are recognized by Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
