To bring more efficiency to the administration of Goa for the first time Goa government gazetted officers will be trained in delivering quality service to the people by one of the premier B-schools of the country- IIM Ahmedabad -
The Goa public service commission (GPSC) has decided to invite in the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad to conduct an annual refresher training course for around 4,000 state government gazetted officers to better the delivery of services to the public.
“ Right now the commission is looking at the option of tying up with a reputed management institution to conduct various management training programs for government officer. The has been started with IIM-Ahmedabad,” said Jose Manuel Noronha Chairman GPSC.
"We have to ensure that every year senior officials of the various government departments, including heads of departments, should undergo at least one-week refresher training course every year," Noronha said.
“I am already discussing the roping in of IIM-Ahmedabad with chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar. The CM has directed me to submit a proposal. Once the proposal is approved by the state government, I will approach IIM-Ahmedabad," Noronha added
This new training will focus on modern management tools and techniques which can be used to improve services to citizens and welfare of the state.
“GPSC will also take inputs on setting up of test papers for recruitment to various government positions through their procedure. For technical positions, GPSC will recommend part time training from reputed engineering institutes like Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Goa campus, just like is being conducted for the staff of Goa state pollution control board (GSPCB).
The management training program will be conducted under the supervision of Goa institute of public administration and rural development.
It is to be noted that in 2014, the Goa government established its own administrative training institute to impart training to government officers and other staff and primarily to create a workforce which is responsive to the needs of the citizens.
