Google Picks up Jadavpur University Student with Package of 1.1 Crore
A student of computer science and engineering department of Jadavpur University has been picked up by Google with a crore-plus package for an opening in Singapore.
Asif Ahmad of Krishnanagar has been offered the highest salary package of whopping Rs 1.1crore which is Rs 10 lakh, a three-fold jump from the earlier average of Rs. 3 lakh-odd.
While sharing his experiences Asif Ahmad said, “In the interview they asked me several questions from my subject. I did not found the questions too hard. I got the confirmation letter in March and has been told to join in September. I had also received an impressive offer from other two companies with high packages. Soon I am heading to Singapore and excited to join Google and live and work in Singapore,"
Vice-Chancellor of the university termed it as the great moment for the University. "The placements are in line with the recognition JU has earned at national and international levels. The University ranks as one of the best universities in Asia and in top 100 BRICS ranking. It is second best state-aided university as declared by the Department of Science and Technology in 2015-2016," said a professor of the University.
But the good news is that even core engineering departments, like chemical, mechanical, and civil engineering etc have found several takers and lucrative packages.
" Surprisingly the big offers have come in sectors that aren't in the best of health which is very encouraging for the University. The oil market and process market is in low, core engineering departments have received amazing placements. We hope a good number of companies were invited and another round of placements is in the pipeline," said a placement officer.
The other students who were offered a high amount of packages in the range of Rs 10 Lakhs to Rs. 30 lakhs by Google, Amazon to name a few.
