Government has No Plans To Merge JEE and NEET with CUET in the Next 2 Years: Dharmendra Pradhan

A recent visit by Dharmendra Pradhan (Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship) to Kota Rajasthan grabbed many eyes as he said that the government has no plan to merge JEE and NEET with CUET. Last month Jagadesh Kumar (University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman) said that in the future JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) and NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test ) will be merged with the CUET (Common University Entrance Test). 

Denying the fact Dharmendra Pradhan added that the government has no proposal to merge the National level tests like JEE and NEET with CUET. If the government plans to merge any of these exams then it will take a minimum of two years to make a decision on the consent of the merger. Pradhan during his one-day visit to Kota (Rajasthan) also added that the new books under the new education policy will be released in the next two years. Under the new education policy, all the books from the 9th class onwards will have advanced content so that students do not have to refer to other books for competitive exam preparation. 

Pradhan also said that the NEP 2020 implementation has already started and Bal Vatika (kindergarten) books for the five-year foundation course will be made available by February 2022. He further added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union government is in a plan to set up digital universities where students from all backgrounds can pursue multi-disciplinary courses for dual degrees. The minister also asked students to provide their suggestions on the content of the book for the National Curriculum Framework Citizen Survey. He guaranteed time that the suggestion will be appreciated and considered.
