Governor of Assam PB Acharya congratulated the Gauhati University on being ranked among the top five state universities in the country in the latest rankings by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Acharya, in a letter to Dr Mridul Hazarika, the GU Vice Chancellor, expressed his happiness at the university being ranked as fourth best university among the state universities and 22nd among the overall rankings in the recent rankings by the MHRD through the national Institutional Ranking Framework.
In his letter, he congratulated those countless students who made this university an excellent place of learning and brought it to the limelight. In addition, he expressed his special thanks to the faculty members, who, with their passion for extensive knowledge and wisdom, brought it a name and created a niche among the state universities of the country. “Of the 343 state universities of the country, Gauhati University’s performance is really commendable. It is a proud moment for all of us and especially for the State of Assam,” he said.
The Governor further emphasised on strengthening our activities, academics and extra-curricular activities etc. so as to make Gauhati University a centre of academic excellence as well as for social responsibility. He said that Gauhati University needs to work towards making itself the number one state university in the near future.
