A team of NAAC led by Rajpal S. Sirohi stated that there is a dire need to develop the infrastructure of Gandhigram Rural Institute in order to attract more students both nationally and internationally.
Giving the examples of IIT, he said that both native students and foreign students study at the premier institutes. He spoke at the exit meeting after the third cycle of inspection was rounded up saying that there is an urgent need to improve the infrastructure and sanitation facilities. However, he did mention that the teachers were good and have initiated several research activities to engage students.

All the drawbacks were kept forward by the committee including the need to seek investment to enhance the infrastructure. Suggestions to overcome the drawbacks were also given by the committee.
