Haryana CM Announces Opening of 11 New Colleges in the State

Haryana CM, Manohar Lal Khattar made an announcement on August 3 regarding the opening of 11 new colleges in Haryana. The plan was to open 10 colleges initially but now, 11 new colleges will be set up in the state.

Haryana CM, Manohar Lal Khattar announced the opening of 11 new colleges in the state. He made the announcement regarding the opening of new colleges on August 3 at a function at the Government Post Graduate (PG) College in Sector -1, Panchkula. Initially, the plan was to open 10 colleges but now he plans to open 11 as per the request of the Minister of State for Woman and Child Development.

He said that offering education is a great gift and 97 new colleges have come up in Haryana over the past 5 years. In the last 48 years, only 75 colleges were set up. He also mentioned how the New Education Policy (NEP) looks at making the education from pre-school to secondary level universal with 100 per cent Gross Enrollment Ratio in school education by 2030.

The objective is to also take the Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher education to 50 per cent by 2025. Khattar also said that through the joint efforts of the state government and non-government organisations and the people, Haryana can achieve this goal. He stated how the government is focused upon skill development, and a Skill Development University has been set up in Dudhola, Palwal.

According to Khattar, the NEP will also prove to be beneficial in fulfilling PM Modi's vision of ' Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ as the implementation of this policy will lead to a drastic change in education and it will be more job-focused now. Referring to this announcement as a special Raksha Bandhan gift to the women of Haryana, he mentioned how currently, there is a college within every 15-km radius in the state. The government is now planning to have a college in every 10-km radius.

Every constituency from Panchkula yo Nuh and Jagadhri to Dabwali has a college as per the concept of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas'. 2 colleges will be opened in Baroda which is in Sonipat. The places where the new colleges are likely to be established are Isharwal in Bhiwani, Firozpur Jhirka in Nuh, Goriwala in Sirsa, Morni Hills in Panchkula, Ladna Chaku and Rajaund in Kaithal and Chhatar in Jind. New colleges will also come up at Agroha in Hisar and Bhainswal Kalan and Pratap Nagar in Yamunanagar.
