High Court of Hyderabad ordered the governments of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to submit a report on the measures that will be taken to curb mass copying during the upcoming SSC examinations. The SSC examinations will be held in the month of March in both the states.
The directions were given by a divisional bench comprising of Justice Shameem Akhtar and Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan. The court was hearing a PIL petition which sought strong government action to curb the menace of mass copying during the SSC examinations.

S. Niranjan Reddy, Senior Counsel who appeared for the petitioner, claimed that a total number of 140 cases of mass copying were registered during the SSC examinations 2016 in both the states. However, more cases were recorded from Andhra Pradesh. The instances of mass copying were brought into the limelight by media, and the government failed to take effective action against the mass copying.

Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments filed a counter affidavit stating that no such cases were registered during the previous SSC examinations.
Niranjan Reddy further explained that both the governments need to take measures on lines of Gujarat where CCTV cameras were installed at all the examination centres. He indicated that all the district collectors must be given responsibility in this regard and to ensure no mass copying during the examinations.
After hearing the plea, the court directed both the governments to submit a report regarding the steps to curb mass copying within two weeks.
