Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is organising an ‘Idea Competition’ for its students to promote idea generation. The competition will be followed by 'Festival of Ideas' where the winning and promising ideas will be showcased and recognised.
The deadline for receiving the ideas from the students is 20th January 2019.
With MHRD's flagship scheme of promoting innovations in the institutes of higher education in the country, Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) has been set up by IGNOU at the National Centre for Innovation in Distance Education (NCIDE).

IGNOU has established the council with an objective to promote the generation of ideas, innovation at the grassroot level, developing prototype, solving issues while generating intellectual property.
Another objective of IIC is to acknowledge the power of idea generation and how ideas can be transformed into workable solutions.
For the competition, IGNOU has invited creative and original ideas from students that can solve problems of the daily life.
The ideas could be related to any of the fields including Clean Energy and Alternate Fuel, Food, Agriculture and Rural Development, Clean Water and Water Management, Health Care and Hygiene, Swacchhata Initiatives and Waste Management, Smart Transportation and Traffic Management, Education and Open University System. The ideas submitted by students in these areas could be interdisciplinary as well.

The evaluation of ideas will be done based on its scale of impact, novelty, clarity, detailing, complexity, feasibility, sustainability, practicability, future perspectives and cost effectivity. The selected idea will be showcased at the Festival of Ideas, which is scheduled to take place on 28th February 2019 at IGNOU.
