A total number of 148 students are studying on this campus and have been shifted to Allahabad now.
IIIT Amethi Campus Shifted to Allahabad

The IIIT Amethi campus has been shifted to Allahabad campus after a run of 11 years. A total number of 148 students are studying on this campus and have been shifted to Allahabad now. The central government recently shut down the Hindustan Paper Mill and Mega Food Park in this constituency. Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Vice President of Congress Party is the leader of this constituency. The constituency is considered as a bastion to Congress and has been represented by Gandhi family.

The Director of IIIT Allahabad, Mr. Nandi said that the government has taken the decision to transfer Amethi campus to Ambedkar University, Lucknow. The decision was taken in May by the former HRD Minister, Smriti Irani. She announced the opening of satellite institute of BR Ambedkar University , Lucknow on the campus of IIIT Amethi.

The students expressed that they did not have any problem to pursue their studies in Allahabad campus. However, 75 employees of the institute said that no arrangements have been made for them. The employees are planning to raise an agitation from 12-August-2016 if the institute does not provide arrangements.
