IIIT Delhi Introduces B.Tech in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence

With the aim to produce skilled students in the Artificial Intelligence sector which is currently flourishing, the IIIT Delhi has introduced a B.Tech course on CSAI available to take up by students from 2019-20 academic year.

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology - IIIT Delhi is all set to launch B.Tech in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAI) from the upcoming academic year. The program of CSAI (Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence) will conduct courses to develop an understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the current scenario. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the most promising fields for the technological landscape of the future and shaping the lifestyle of people in a modern world.

Prof. Ranjan Bose, the Director of IIIT Delhi informed that there is a scarcity of skilful homegrown AI engineers even though the industries are adopting the technology rapidly and the sector is creating huge job opportunities by embracing AI-based products and services. The initiative of launching B.Tech in CSAI in IIIT Delhi is aimed to create skilled AI technicians who can contribute to the AI industry in India who can develop groundbreaking technologies for the flourishing sector.

A student who is graduate in this course can build a career in the new-age fields like Robotics, Autonomous Driving, Computer Vision, Natural Language Understanding & Predictive Analytics. These fields offer good exposure and scope of research related works as well for further development which the CSAI graduate can explore to build the future.

The interdisciplinary subjects like the Internet of things (IoT), Big Data, Neuroscience, Edge computing are also some of the promising sectors for an AI Graduate from IIIT Delhi.

Professor Mayank Vatsa who is the Head of Infosys Center for Artificial Intelligence & Program and Coordinator for B.Tech CSAI course at IIIT Delhi informed that India has potential to rank at the first place for global tech innovation in which it currently ranks 3rd if the gap between academia and industries are eradicated more efficient academic policies. He added that the youth of today are enthusiastic to learn the new emerging technologies and at an Institutional level, IIIT Delhi is excited to offer the course for making them able to develop and contribute towards the AI technology in India which will eventually be helpful to bridge the Industry-Academia gap for more efficient learning experience for future generations.

The newly introduced course of B.Tech in CSAI (Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence) is being offered by IIIT Delhi under the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Infosys Centre of Artificial Intelligence collaboratively. the course is being supported by the Infosys Foundation, the support of the foundation is helpful to incorporate the cutting edge technology and modern systems for the better understanding of the subject by the students who are taking up the B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence course.

The academicians and faculty members of the stream will also conduct research on different fields like Cyber-Physical Systems, Robotics, Autonomous Driving, Biometrics, Medical-Healthcare, Natural Language Understanding, Data Analytics, Surveillance, Forensics, Critical Care and Community Medicine, Decision Systems, Cybersecurity, and Effective Computing.
