- The search for a new director for IIM Ahmedabad is underway. The institute's selection committee has sent its shortlist to the MHRD for the final decision.
- It is likely that Prof. Errol D'Souza will replace Ashish Nanda as the IIM Ahmedabad Director.
Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad) has initiated the process of appointing a full-time director after Mr. Ashish Nanda left the post in September 2017 after completing four out of five years of his total tenure. The Board of Governors (BoG) of IIM Ahmedabad has shortlisted three names for the post of IIM-A Director. The list has been forwarded to the Ministry of Human Resource and Development for the final decision.

The following are the three names suggested by IIM Ahmedabad for the post: -
- Professor Errol D’ Souza (Director-In-Charge of IIM Ahmedabad)
- Mr. Arvind Sahay (Head of India Gold Policy Centre)’
- Professor Neharika Vohra (Faculty of Organisational Behaviour – IIM-A)
According to sources, the selection committee has given more emphasis on the appointment of Errol D’ Souza as the Director of IIM Ahmedabad because of his track record, experience and positions held by him earlier. Nothing is confirmed yet. It is only MHRD that will take the final decision in this regard.

Recently, Mr. Prakash Javadekar clarified that the ministry had received the list of shortlisted names for the post of director and the final decision will be taken as soon as possible.
Earlier, a placement agency was appointed to hire a new director for IIM Ahmedabad. It is also reported that the Chairman of IIM Ahmedabad, Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla is closely monitoring the selection procedure. According to sources, the decision regarding the appointment of the new director will be taken before the IIM Bill gets clearance from the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming session of the parliament.
