IIM Bangalore Holds Annual Convocation, Eight Students Awarded Gold Medals

The annual convocation of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore was held in a grand manner on March 20, 2017. Uday Kotak, Managing Director and Executive Vice-Chairman of Kotak Bank Limited attended the convocation ceremony as the guest where he addressed the students.

He expressed that one needs to think differently and come out with creative solutions. The students must always be ready to face challenges as well as failures. Learning from mistakes that were committed earlier is the first step to achieving success. He shared that Kotak Bank Limited would not have achieved a higher position if they would not have thought differently when it was established. Therefore, improving creative thoughts and ideas are essential for the development of startups, ventures or businesses.

Director of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, Prof. G. Raghuram revealed that the number of students graduating FPM is high and equal to the record that was set the previous year. This year, around 20 students graduated FPM. He further added that there are 17 peer publications, out of which five have been included in the top tier journals. Out of the 13 students who were placed, 10 are joining academic institutes with six of them in Indian Institutes of Management. He expressed his satisfaction in this regard and congratulated the students.

On this occasion, a total number of 598 students who graduated from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore this year received diplomas. Among them, eight students bagged gold medals. Udit Jalan, Vaibhav Gupta and Dharmendra Hiranandani emerged as the toppers in PGP.

Udit Jalan stood at the first place by securing 3.9 out of 4.0 CGPA in IIM-Bangalore’s PGP, which is highest ever since the institute introduced grade points.
