HRD Ministry Approves Rs 51 Cr for IIM Jammu’s Off-Campus Centre in Srinagar

The new initiatives from the HRD Ministry and opening of IIM Jammu’s campus enhances the economic and educational growth in Kashmir.

The HRD ministry has approved the opening of Indian Institute of Management in the valley of Kashmir. The centre would be called IIM Jammu and an amount of Rs 51 crores will be invested in this. This has been done so that the prospective management students can research and contribute to the development of the region.

For opening IIM’s campus in Jammu initially, a 200-acre campus was idealised. But due to congestion and lack of space, the ministry is settling for a campus that would comparatively cover lesser area. Looking at the criticality and unpredictability of regions of Pulwama and Ganderbal, Srinagar instead was decided to be the best fit for the campus.

A logo has been decided and launched for IIM Jammu and the website has also been created recently. In a recent interview, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the minster of HRD department, has addressed to the country that this initiative will assuredly increase the research possibilities of Jammu and will contribute to its economic and educational development, which has been struggling till now. Pokhriyal on behalf of HRD Ministry promises the director of IIM Jammu that any kind of support can be leveraged from the ministry at any point of time, in order to grow the institute and make it as splendid in all aspects as possible.

The institute will definitely produce great minds that contribute to the betterment of the country. The executive courses in the college, from the off-campus centre, will commence soon. On account of recent ongoings and changes in the country, a lot of positive news is coming across. Our country is developing, and a lot of focus is being put to enhance Kashmir on an economic and educational front.
