A team of students from Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K) emerged as winners of ‘Avant-Grade 3.0’, an annual case study competition organised by ‘Svatantra Microfin Private Limited. It is a new-age microfinance institution, which is popular for its affordable financial solutions to rural women. The company organises the case study competition every year.
The winning team, i.e., IIM Kozhikode was awarded Rs. 2,00,000 and a PPI with Aditya Birla’s Leadership Programme. The runner-up team, i.e., XLRI Jamshedpur was awarded the cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 along with PPI.

About ‘Avant-Grade 3.0’: -
The main aim of ‘Avant Grade 3.0’ is to provide a challenging and unique platform to students who wish to provide ideas to face the real-life problems and challenges encountered in the microfinance sector. This year, the competition focused on building a healthcare insurance product for the rural households.
Founder and Chairman of Svatantra Microfin Private Limited, Ms. Ananya Birla revealed that the third edition of ‘Avant Grade ‘received a massive response from the students and top B-Schools. This year, over 900 students from 20 leading business schools across the country participated in the event. Svatantra Microfin believes in growth substantiated by sustainability and profitability, she added.

Competitions like ‘Avant Grade’ are highly necessary to find solutions to various problems of society. Microfinance sector is one the sectors, which has been facing numerous problems. Therefore, there is a need to come up with innovative ideas in this sector, particularly solutions to sort out financial problems.
